Transparent conducting oxides (TCO) as transparent electrodes are used in many applications such as flat panel displays, organic photovoltaic cells, and organic light-emitting diodes. For instance, InMO3(ZnO)n (M= Al, Ga, In) has been extensively studied to obtain higher conductivity, better transparency, and lower cost, and eventually to replace commercial ITO. New TCO materials are expected to introduce new physical properties that can be tuned possibly by controlling the compositions. NU-MRSEC researchers are investigating theoretically the transport properties for the first time by changing the compositions and structures.
